Lucknow, Jun 3 (PTI) Basti recorded the highest maximum temperature in Uttar Pradesh at 42 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while several other districts, including Fatehpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Prayagraj,
witnessed temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, according to a weather bulletin.
Fatehpur recorded a maximum temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Lakhimpur Kheri at 41 degrees Celsius. Fatehgarh recorded 40.8 degrees Celsius, while Prayagraj and Varanasi (BHU) recorded 40.5 degrees Celsius each. Bahraich and Ghazipur recorded 40 degrees Celsius each.
Other places with high temperatures included Jhansi (40.6 degrees Celsius), Varanasi Airport (39.8 degrees Celsius), Gorakhpur (39.8 degrees Celsius), Sultanpur (38.9 degrees Celsius), Lucknow (38.8 degrees Celsius), Ballia (38.8 degrees Celsius), Moradabad (38.7 degrees Celsius) and Kanpur city (38.4 degrees Celsius).
Rainfall was recorded in some districts, with Azamgarh receiving 8 mm and Gorakhpur 3.4 mm. Trace rainfall was reported from Kanpur and Hamirpur.
The weather office said temperatures in most parts of the state remained close to normal, with some areas witnessing slight variations.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy skies in Lucknow and adjoining areas are expected on Thursday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 40 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively. No warning has been issued for the state capital. PTI KIS AMJ AMJ
