and is in advanced discussions for the high-concept project. The upcoming film is being envisioned as a large-scale creature horror film and is backed by Jio Studios.
Janhvi Kapoor Eyeing Creature Horror Film Next?
According to Pinkvilla, Janhvi has been evaluating multiple scripts while planning her next film. Among the offers on the table, the horror film has emerged as a strong contender. “Janhvi Kapoor is currently reading scripts and discussing potential projects for her next feature film. She has shown keen interest in the creature horror film to be directed by Rahi Anil Barve. The prep work is already underway, and the makers are hoping to begin production later this year,” a source told the entertainment portal.
The insider further revealed that the role will require extensive preparation from the actor. If the project moves forward, Janhvi is expected to undergo intensive acting workshops and preparation sessions designed to help her immerse herself in the film’s world and character.
While Janhvi has not previously been part of a creature horror film, she has appeared in projects within the broader horror space, including Netflix’s anthology Ghost Stories and the horror-comedy Roohi.
Janhvi Kapoor was recently seen in Buchi Babu Sana’s film ‘Peddi’ starring Ram Charan. The filmmakers have been facing criticism over the portrayal of Janhvi’s character Achiyamma. A section of viewers alleged that the actor has been oversexualised, pointing to what they describe as an unnecessary focus on her “waist, midriff and backside.”
As debates over alleged “objectification” continue on social media, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a statement addressing the concerns raised by viewers and responding to the ongoing criticism.
Issuing a public statement, he said the concerns raised by audiences had been taken seriously and apologised to those who felt uncomfortable with certain scenes. The filmmaker maintained that there was never any intention to disrespect women and confirmed that changes would be made to the portions that had drawn criticism.
