ongoing IPL 2026 match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala is Iyer’s 100th IPL match as captain. He is playing his 30th IPL match as PBKS captain on Sunday and in the past has also captained the Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

He served as Delhi Capitals captain in 41 IPL matches from 2018 to 2020 and played 29 IPL matches as KKR skipper from 2022 to 2024.
MS Dhoni holds the record of playing most IPL matches as captain. From 2008 to 2025, he led Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants in 235 IPL matches and secured 69 outright wins.
