The popular streaming platform Prime Video revealed its new slate of films and shows for 2026 during a star-studded event at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on Thursday. It was attended by some of the most popular names
in the film and OTT industry. Among other titles, Shahid Kapoor made a grand entry on the stage and announced the second season of his hit show Farzi.
The clip from the event shows the stage going silent and dark before Shahid Kapoor makes his entry, breaking a wall. This is followed by a shower of fake currency notes on stage, adhering to the theme of Farzi. Speaking about the new season at the event, Shahid said, “I’ve been waiting to start season two for the last two years, and I’m so excited that it is finally happening. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. We’ve already started shooting, and this is one of the favourite characters I have ever played. It is my favourite show.”
Shahid Kapoor On Farzi 2’s Story
He added, “And whatever they have taken me through sounds like a level up from the first season, but it also feels very much like a natural progression of the story.” The first season of Farzi was released in 2023, directed by the duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra, and Amol Palekar had major roles in the film Farzi. The plot revolved around Sunny, a small-time con artist played by Shahid, who becomes involved in deeper plans while planning the ideal con. Vijay Sethupathi plays a motivated and unusual task force officer who is out to eliminate Sunny’s menace to the nation.
Shahid Kapoor’s Latest Work
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O Romeo. It was also announced that the film would make its OTT debut on Prime Video. The film, which opened in theatres on February 13, was Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s fourth collaboration, following Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon. Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, and Tamannaah Bhatia all had key roles in the film.
