Mrunal Thakur is riding high after the release of Son of Sardaar 2, where she stars alongside Ajay Devgn. But even with the spotlight on her, the actress admits she prefers keeping her plans close to her chest
— all thanks to her belief in the evil eye. In a recent chat with Instant Bollywood, Mrunal spoke about how she’s approaching her career and why she’s careful about sharing too much.

“There are a lot of things I still need to do with my career, a lot of boxes I haven’t checked. But I will talk about those things once I actually do them, because I don’t want to jinx it by talking about them. I believe the whole nazar thing, ‘boht nazar lagti hai’,” she said.
For Mrunal, it’s about setting boundaries when navigating the public side of showbiz. She explained why she avoids discussing her future projects openly — even when others do.
“Boundaries. One should think before speaking about oneself. You should control how much you are telling the world. Sometimes we end up saying the things we want to do or are doing currently, and we jinx it ourselves. I have a very different personality in that sense, because someone might talk about the number of releases they have next year. I don’t want to talk about it; everyone knows what’s coming and what’s not. I don’t like to constantly think and talk about the things that are happening in my life,” she said.
Alongside her film work, Mrunal’s personal life has also been making headlines. Rumour mills were abuzz after she was seen with Kuberaa actor Dhanush at a recent party. On August 1, a viral video captured the actor holding Mrunal’s hand at her birthday party. Adding fuel to the fire, just hours earlier, Dhanush was also seen flying to Mumbai to attend the special screening of Son of Sardaar 2, which stars Mrunal alongside Ajay Devgn. A video from the event, shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), captured the duo in conversation. Mrunal can be seen leaning in to whisper something to Dhanush, sparking even more curiosity among fans. “Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur are dating?” one caption read, triggering a range of fan reactions.
Dhanush was previously married to Aishwarya Rajinikanth, with the couple parting ways in 2024 after two decades together.
