The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to stage a protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on June 14 as part of its nationwide campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to the organisation, the demonstrations are aimed at mobilising support across the country over education-related issues.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke took part in a protest held at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Thursday. During the programme, the organisation announced plans to expand its agitation to several other cities in the coming days.
In a post on X, the party said, “The entire country will unite to demand the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Cockroach Janta Party peaceful protest going national.”
Hyderabad Protest Scheduled For June 14
As per the schedule released by the organisation, protests are planned in Lucknow on June 12, Amritsar on June 13 and Hyderabad on June 14. The Hyderabad demonstration is expected to take place at Dharna Chowk from 10 am, as reported by The Times of India. On the same day, the organisation plans to hold another protest in Bengaluru at 4 pm. Further demonstrations have been announced for Jaipur on June 15 and Delhi on June 20.
The group has also called on young people from across the country to participate in what it described as a large-scale protest in the national capital later this month.
Police Reviewing Permission Request
Meanwhile, according to local police, a college student, Ruchit Ashakamal, approached the Domalguda police on Thursday seeking permission to organise a protest at Dharna Chowk between 10 am and 12.30 pm on June 14.
The application states that the demonstration is being organised against the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination in May and is expected to draw around 150 to 200 participants. It also mentions that activist Sonam Wangchuk is expected to attend the event.
A Domalguda police official said the request for permission is currently under scrutiny.
Traffic Curbs Possible Around Dharna Chowk
With the protest scheduled to take place at Dharna Chowk from 10 am, commuters travelling through the area could experience temporary traffic congestion, particularly if a large number of participants turn up.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and check for updates from the Hyderabad Traffic Police before heading towards the venue.
