For many Bengalureans this Wednesday, 21st Jan 2026 is likely to begin with planned power disruptions across large parts of the city. Electricity supply will be cut in more than 100 areas of Bengaluru
tomorrow as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company carries out scheduled maintenance and infrastructure work.
The outage is expected to affect several neighbourhoods in East, North, and central Bengaluru, with residents advised to plan their day accordingly.
Why the power supply will be disrupted
According to BESCOM officials, the power shutdown tomorrow is required to facilitate maintenance and emergency works at the 66/11 kV Banaswadi substation. Such shutdowns are carried out periodically to strengthen the power network and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
Power supply in the listed areas is likely to be disrupted from around 10 am and restored by evening, depending on how quickly the work is completed.
East and North Bengaluru areas to be affected
Several neighbourhoods in East and North Bengaluru will face power cuts tomorrow. These include HRBR Layout 1st Block, 2nd Block, and 3rd Block, Service Road areas, Kammanahalli Main Road, CMR Road, Babusapalya, Balachandra Layout, Flower Garden, MM Garden, Arkavati Layout, Anjanadri Layout Enclave, Divya Unnati Layout, Vijayendra Garden, Mallappa Layout, Prakruti Township, Balaji Layout, GNR Garden, Chelekere, Chelekere Village, Samudrika Enclave, 100 Feet Road, 80 Feet Road, Subbayyanapalya, Horamavu, Munireddi Layout, Vijay Bank Colony, Nisarga Colony, Nandanam Colony, Amar Agency Layout, P and T Layout, Pappaya Layout, Coconut Grove Layout, Aashirvad Colony, and Shakti Nagar.

Power supply will also be disrupted tomorrow in Hennuru Village, Bairaveshwar Layout, Chikkanna Layout, CMR Layout, Hennuru Cross, Kenchappa Garden, Brindavan Layout, Hoysala Nagar, Brindavan Avenue Heritage, Vinayaka Layout, Jayanti Grama, areas in front of the BDA Complex, near Narendra Tent, parts of OMBR Layout, parts of Kasturi Nagar, parts of Pillareddi Nagar, Karavalli Road, Ramayya Layout, Azmallappa Layout, Dodda Banaswadi, Ramamurthy Nagar Main Road, B Channasandra, Nanjappa Garden, Agaere Main Road, Doddiah Layout, Bank Avenue, and RS Palya.
Central and south east Bengaluru areas
Several central and south east Bengaluru localities will also experience power outages tomorrow. These include ADMC Military Gate, Muniswamy Road, Muni Veerappa Road, Kullappa Circle, Rajkumar Park, Meghna Palya, Muniswamappa Layout, Yesh Enclave, Banjara Layout, Vijayalakshmi Layout, Trinity Enclave, Sankalpa Layout, Green Garden Phase 2, Samruddhi Layout, Bethel Layout, SLV Layout, SL’s Spencer Apartments, DS Max Apartments, and surrounding areas.
Advice for residents
BESCOM has advised residents in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance, especially those working from home or dependent on medical equipment. Residents are also urged to be cautious while switching on appliances once power supply is restored.
Officials said the planned shutdown is part of routine maintenance aimed at improving long-term power reliability in the city.
