Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s goal is to protect Kerala from “desh virodhi taakat” and ensure the state’s all-round development. Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram,
Shah said he had visited the Padmanabhaswamy Temple to offer thanks after the BJP’s success in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, a promise he had made to himself if the party performed well.
He congratulated newly elected local body representatives on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP workers across the country, calling the result an important step towards the party’s larger political objective in the state.
Shah said the BJP’s final aim is to form a government in Kerala and have a BJP chief minister, adding that this would pave the way for complete development.
The Home Minister said the BJP is committed to safeguarding Kerala’s long-standing beliefs and traditions, while also ensuring security and progress. He claimed that people of the state now believe these goals can be achieved only by the BJP and the NDA under PM Modi’s leadership.
Shah said the path to a “Viksit Bharat” runs through a “Viksit Kerala”, but accused the LDF and UDF of causing stagnation due to what he described as mutual understanding and corruption. He alleged that alternating governments had failed to act against each other’s wrongdoing, hurting the state’s future.
He told the people of Kerala that development, security and protection of faith cannot be achieved through the LDF or the UDF, asserting that only the BJP offers a clear and decisive alternative for the state’s future.
