A Bengaluru-based businessman returned home after an outing only to encounter a horrifying scene – his residence had been stripped of valuables worth nearly Rs 18 crore, allegedly by the very people he trusted
with its care, as reported by India Today.
According to the report, citing the complaint, the businessman’s domestic staff, reported to be Nepali nationals, are accused of having executed a calculated burglary while the house was empty.
Within hours, lockers were reportedly broken, and the family’s lifetime of savings had been stolen. The accused have allegedly fled with a whopping haul – around 11.5 kg of gold and diamond jewellery, nearly 5 kg of silver trinkets, as well as Rs 11.5 lakh in cash – together worth around Rs 18 crores, the outlet reported.
Meanwhile, the Marathahalli police have registered an FIR in connection with the burglary at the businessman’s home in Yamaluru. As per the complaint, Shimanth S. Arjun, 28, said that Dinesh and his wife, Kamala, along with other persons, worked as household help at his residence.
They allegedly kept track of the family’s movement while working at their house, the police said.
According to the complaint, the businessman, along with his mother and wife, left home on the morning of January 25 to attend a Bhoomi Puja at H. Cross. Around 12:38 P.M., one of the domestic workers called him and informed him that the lockers in the house had been broken.
Upon returning, the family discovered that the lockers in the ground-floor and first-floor bedrooms had been broken open, said the report by India Today.
The police have booked the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and a further probe into the matter is underway.
