Amid uncertainty over Don 3, Farhan Akhtar is now likely to begin shooting for RD Burman’s biopic. If a recent report is to be believed, the actor-filmmaker is in talks with Neeraj Pandey for a biopic on legendary
music composer. Reportedly, Akhtar is ‘excited’ to play the part and is likely to take an ‘extensive preparation’ for the role.
“Neeraj Pandey has been developing the RD Burman biopic for a while now, and the writing work is progressing at a rapid pace. Farhan Akhtar is in talks to play the legendary composer and is extremely excited about the prospect of bringing Pancham Da’s journey to the big screen. If all goes according to plan, he will undergo extensive preparation to get into the skin of the character,” a source cited by Pinkvilla claimed.
“The team has secured rights to the classic RD Burman tracks that defined an era. The idea is to create an authentic and emotionally rich homage to the genius of Pancham Da. Music sittings have already begun to bring the best versions of the original songs,” the insider added.
The report also claimed that RD Burman’s biopic is likely to go on the floors by the end of 2026. While Neeraj Pandey will direct, he will also co-produce the film with MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Manikarnika’s producer Kamal Jain.
Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 On Hold
This comes at a time when Farhan Akhtar has been facing uncertainty over Don 3. The fallout between him and Ranveer Singh over the film has become one of Bollywood’s biggest controversies. According to multiple online reports, Singh exited the film due to creative differences with the makers. Several reports also suggested that Ranveer was unhappy with repeated delays in production and the absence of a locked final script.
What initially appeared to be a routine casting change has now escalated into a legal matter, with Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment demanding Rs 45 crore in compensation and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a non-cooperation directive against the actor, which has now been revoked.
