Bollywood diva Bhumi has spoken about the constant judgment she faces over her weight loss. Appearing on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast “All About Her”, the actress said it bothers her when people assume that
losing weight today is impossible without medical help.
Bhumi revealed that women often approach her directly and ask, “Aapne bhi Ozempic ya Mounjaro liya hai?” While she does not judge anyone who needs medical assistance, she clarified that her own journey did not involve injectables.
Health Struggles That Are Often Ignored
Bhumi Pednekar, who made her Bollywood debut with Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015, shared that part of her weight loss came during a very difficult phase when she was hospitalised with dengue in November 2023.
Bhumi said she lost 12 kg rapidly during recovery and even experienced severe hair loss. “The pain you go through is unmatched,” she recalled, describing how she spent Diwali battling intense headaches instead of celebrating.
“I Lost 40 Kg Without Injectables”
Addressing rumours and extreme assumptions, Bhumi said people have even asked if she had a rib removed. She stressed that her transformation is the result of nearly a decade of working out, eating right, and staying disciplined. “The fact is, I lost 40 kg and more without injectables,” she said firmly.
Turning Vegetarian And Learning The Hard Way
Bhumi also spoke about her decision to turn vegetarian due to moral and sustainability reasons.
Bhumi admitted the transition was not easy. In a separate interview with Indian Express, she revealed once she consumed 120 grams of protein, which caused her inflammation. Now she has limited her protein intake to 60 grams and focuses on simple meals like “oats, smoothie bowls, or poha” in Breakfast .
Lunch and dinner are “simple home-style meals with dals, pulses, and sabzi.” Her cheat meals include “vada pav, chole bhature, and pizza.”
She sometimes adds cottage cheese, seeds and protein shakes to her diet.
Over time, she learned what worked for her body, cutting down excessive protein and focusing on balanced, home-style meals.
Today, Bhumi follows a regular workout routine and is careful about her diet. She is also deeply involved in sustainability and social causes, which she says are a core part of who she is.
