North India saw a sudden change in weather as rain and snow replaced weeks of dry days. Temperatures dropped fast, bringing cold winds and fresh snowfall to many hilly areas like Uttarakhand, Himachal
Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. While the weather brought relief and joy to many, it also caused problems in several places. Heavy snowfall led to the closure of many national highways, slowing down travel and causing long traffic jams.
Videos from regions are now spreading online, showing cars stuck on narrow roads and people struggling to drive on icy paths. At the same time, other clips show tourists enjoying the snow, clicking pictures and walking through snow covered valleys.
North India Faces Sudden Snow And Rain
Social media is full of stunning visuals, tempting many to plan a quick trip. However, the situation is not as easy as it looks. Driving in snow is risky and requires experience. Travellers are being advised to check road updates, avoid risky routes and stay alert to prevent accidents during this busy holiday period.
In one of the videos, an Audi car is seen stuck in the snow. After some effort, the driver manages to free the vehicle. But the trouble does not end there. As the car moves forward, it starts sliding on the snowy road and soon loses control. The luxury car then bumps into another vehicle on the slippery path.
Sharing the video on X, an individual wrote, “That time when people regret entering snowfall zones. No matter if you own an Audi, Mercedes or anything else, if you do not understand the basics of driving on snow, all that tech is useless.”

In contrast, another clip shows the scenic beauty of Jammu and Kashmir, with the entire valley covered in fresh snow. The white blanket over the hills and roads creates a peaceful view. Another video shows the Vande Bharat train running smoothly in the valley. Viewers can be seen praising its service and performance as it moves without any trouble despite the snowy surroundings.

While the Vande Bharat received praise, another video raised concern about the Shimla Kalka train. The train is seen moving very slowly as it struggles in the heavy snow. The person who shared the clip said the route needs more modern trains that can handle such weather better and ensure smoother travel.
In the caption, the user mentioned, “Fresh snowfall and the Shimla Kalka World Heritage train moving slowly through the mountains. This surely remains the most beautiful route in the nation, but the time has come to bring a Vande Bharat or a more advanced train to this route.”

Haven’t seen such a massive snowfall in a single day. Almost all areas of HP UK and JK are receiving heavy snowfall. Next 6 hours snow and rain warning in HP. There are traffic jams and road closures at various points. Please plan accordingly.

One more suggested, “People in NCR and other regions planning an early morning drive to snowfall areas, please plan smart. Pre book stays, check live traffic updates and avoid rushing. Many popular spots across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are already packed with tourists and vehicles and major areas are disconnected.”
