Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar, known for his unapologetic honesty, recently made a surprising confession that left many amused — and some shocked. Despite being a regular at high-profile weddings,
Johar revealed that he has never actually eaten at one, admitting that the idea makes him uncomfortable.
The filmmaker, who is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming production Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, opened up about the peculiar habit during a candid chat on The Manyavar Shaadi Show.
‘I Feel Awkward Standing with a Plate’: KJo’s Wedding Confession
Speaking to newlyweds Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat, Johar didn’t mince words when the topic of wedding food came up.
“I have never eaten at a wedding,” he said, visibly surprising Kriti. “These long queues and standing in line for food… I also feel very awkward standing with a plate and eating. I never eat at weddings.”
The admission came after Johar asked the couple about their wedding non-negotiables, to which both instantly replied, “Good food,” making his revelation even more ironic.
Why Food Played A Big Role In Kriti And Pulkit’s Wedding
Kriti Kharbanda went on to share a personal detail about Pulkit Samrat, revealing that he is lovingly called ‘Annapurna’ at home — a Sanskrit term meaning the giver of food. According to her, Pulkit’s love for feeding people was one of the qualities that drew her to him.
The couple tied the knot on March 15, 2024, in an intimate ceremony at ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar, Haryana, surrounded by close friends and family.
A Love Story That Began On Set
Pulkit and Kriti first met while working on the 2018 film Veerey Ki Wedding and began dating a year later. Sharing their wedding photographs, the couple penned a poetic note reflecting their journey together:
“From the deep blue sky, to the morning dew… Constantly, consistently, continually, You.”
For the ceremony, Kriti wore a soft pink bridal lehenga designed by Anamika Khanna, while Pulkit complemented her look in a mint green sherwani by the same designer.
