TMC Crisis LIVE Updates: Trouble continues to mount for Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress as it is witnessing an unprecedented rebellion in the party’s legislature wing in Bengal.
In a mjor jolt, party’s
Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev quit party and resigned from the Upper House. She is the second MP to resign in a week after Sukhendu Shekhar Ray. Dev will meet Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan and submitted her resignation today at 1 pm.
Meanwhile, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a meeting with Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Delhi today. The meeting at 10 Janpath took place a day after Mamata Banerjee met Sonia Gandhi and discussed ways to further consolidate the opposition INDIA bloc.
The deepening turmoil escalated, with 20 TMC MPs deciding to write to the Speaker expressing their desire to join the BJP-led NDA in Parliament, amid the resignation of former Rajya Sabha chief whip Sukhendu Sekhar Ray.
As the crisis threatens to spill over into Parliament, the party faces the prospect of a major implosion, leaving questions over how much of the organisation will remain intact after its electoral debacle.
