The age-old debate over Delhi versus Mumbai has been reignited on social media. A user shared a conversation with a relative who moved from Noida to Mumbai last year. During a recent meet-up, they asked
what Mumbai offered that Noida didn’t. The relative’s answer focused on the freedom she felt in the city and claimed that she would never think about going back to NCR. She added that while Mumbai has its own challenges, the freedom to live life on her own terms has been a priceless experience.
Although the post was shared in a lighthearted way, social media users quickly turned it into a hot topic. Many wondered what kind of freedom Mumbai offered that Delhi did not, while others compared the living spaces and lifestyles of both cities. Some users pointed out that the meaning of freedom depends on personal choices.
Individual Shares Why Mumbai Is Better Than Noida
Taking to X, the individual wrote, “My relative moved from Noida to Mumbai last year. Met her for a meal now. Asked her – What does Mumbai have for you that Noida doesn’t? Her reply, ‘Freedom. Now I can’t ever live again in NCR.’ For all its faults and Mumbai has many – you can’t put a price tag on Freedom.”

Internet Debate Over Quality Of Life, Infrastructure and Space
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Let her roam free for a while and speak to people in Hindi. I bet she will repent the experience for the rest of her life.”
Another shared, “Everyone dissing on Mumbai are the ones who haven’t lived here or haven’t been able to make it here.”
“Freedom matters, but so does quality of life. Mumbai crowds you into crumbling infrastructure and endless queues for basics. In NCR, at least you can still find space to live like a human being,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Met someone who visited Mumbai 40 years back (Californian oldie). Says of all places he has seen in the world, ‘Bombay’ has had the deepest impact on his life. He said it was not a particular thing, it was the whole package.”
Another mentioned, “Bakwas place, insanely high rents for 500 sq ft 2BHK at 80k in Lokhandwala, no parking space, no walking space, no infrastructure, can’t drive anywhere, local transport is 5th world competing with Bangladeshis.”
One more explained that freedom means different things to different people. For some, it might be about experiencing various cultures and feeling accepted, while for others, having good roads, buildings and safety is more important. They pointed out that when comparing cities, it’s important to understand that everyone values different things.
