Karan Johar’s film Dostana 2 has been one of the most talked-about projects ever since it was announced a few years ago. The film was initially announced with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya
in the lead. But later, Kartik backed out of the film despite shooting for 15-20 days. After his exit, Janhvi is also no longer a part of the second part of Dostana. Vikrant Massey has replaced Kartik, while Lakshya has been on board since day one. Now, the latest update suggests that the makers have found the female lead, too. Reportedly, former Miss India World, Sini Shetty, has been finalised as the female lead in the romantic comedy.
Sini Shetty to replace Janhvi Kapoor in Dostana 2?
According to Variety India, the makers were contemplating three names before finalising Sini Shetty for the role. She will be making her acting debut with Dostana 2. She was crowned Miss India World in 2022. The report suggests that she always aspired to get into acting. Sini is excited to be making her debut with a movie that’s a part of such a big banner. The report also says that she has also signed another small-budget thriller film. The details about the project are under wraps.
If the report is to be believed, the makers are reviving Dostana 2 as a Prime Video feature film. Laal Singh Chaddha’s director, Advait Chandan, will helm the film. It is being rewritten as an earlier draft was too similar to another film. Amazon Prime Video has reportedly allocated a significant budget for the project, even though it stars two relatively new actors. The film is planned as a grand-scale production. However, the shoot has been pushed to the third quarter of this year owing to ongoing script revisions.
The story of the second instalment of Dostana will revolve around two siblings, who find themselves falling for the same man, leading to a chaotic yet entertaining mix of romance, misunderstandings, and quirky comic situations.
Earlier, Vikrant Massey expressed his excitement about joining a Dharma movie. He had told Times now, “I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
