Seventeen Delhi Metro stations in central Delhi will remain closed on Friday for the third straight day due to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar.

In a late-night
advisory on Thursday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the stations would remain shut from 7.30 am on Friday until further instructions, citing security reasons.

The affected stations are Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium and Jhandewalan.
However, interchange facilities will continue to be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations, the DMRC said.
The same 17 stations remained shut for extended periods on Wednesday and Thursday because of security arrangements linked to the protest, disrupting travel for office-goers, students and other commuters across central Delhi.
On Thursday, entry gates at Central Secretariat, Mandi House and Rajiv Chowk reopened late in the evening after remaining closed for nearly 14 hours, while the other stations continued to remain shut. The restrictions forced many commuters to change their travel plans, use alternate routes or depend on road transport amid heavy traffic congestion.
Earlier this week, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth stations were also closed for several hours on Monday as security was tightened in view of the protest.
The repeated closures have affected daily commuting in central Delhi, with traffic curbs around Janpath, Jantar Mantar and nearby areas adding to delays during peak hours.
