Jaipur, Aug 4 (PTI) Heavy rainfall lashed isolated parts of Rajasthan with Mandawar in Dausa district recording the highest rainfall of 107 mm, the Met department said on Tuesday.
Heavy rain was recorded
at isolated places in Dausa, Didwana-Kuchaman, Hanumangarh, Kota and Sirohi districts during 24 hours period ending on Tuesday morning.
Jaipur meteorological centre director Radheshyam Sharma said that a cyclonic circulation currently persists over northeast Rajasthan, while the monsoon trough is pass through its normal position over northern Rajasthan.
He said that moderate to heavy rain is likely at isolated places in districts of the Bharatpur, Jaipur and Bikaner divisions on Tuesday and heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas in Bharatpur division.
Light to moderate rainfall is also likely over northeastern and northern parts of the state on August 5.
A fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over eastern Rajasthan and adjoining areas from August 6-7 which would lead to renewed monsoon activity and an increase in rainfall across the state.
Between August 7 and 10, moderate to heavy at several places and very heavy rainfall in isolated areas is likely in parts of the Bharatpur, Kota, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions.
Rainfall activity is expected to remain subdued over parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions during the next two to three days before picking up again between August 7 and 9.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan has received 204.64 mm of rainfall between June 1 and August 3 against the seasonal average of 227.24 mm, registering a deficit of 9.94 per cent, which falls under the IMD’s normal rainfall category.
Among the state’s divisions, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur are in the normal rainfall category. Kota division has recorded a rainfall deficit of 25.46 per cent, while Bharatpur division has received 30.76 per cent less rainfall than normal, according to a report of the state water resources department.
At the district level, Phalodi is the only district in the abnormal rainfall category (60 per cent or more than normal rainfall).
Five districts — Barmer, Beawar, Bikaner, Didwana-Kuchaman and Salumber — have recorded excess rainfall, receiving 20 to 59 per cent more rain than normal.
Sixteen districts are in the normal rainfall category, while 19 districts, including state capital Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Alwar, Dausa, Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur, remain in the deficit category. PTI SDA NB NB
