Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus has said she is ready to return to acting, more than six years after her last major role. The 33-year-old singer shared that she would “love to” act again while attending the
Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 3.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet, Cyrus explained that she is waiting for the right opportunity. She said she would enjoy stepping into someone else’s creative world and being part of a vision led by another filmmaker. According to the star, the right script and the right people would make acting an exciting next step for her.
Honoured at Palm Springs Film Festival
At the festival, Cyrus received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song “Dream as One,” featured in the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash. While celebrating the honour, she also spoke about her interest in working with new and inspiring creative minds from the film industry.
She added that although she enjoys being in charge of her music career, acting allows her to explore different stories and characters under someone else’s direction.
From Hannah Montana to Black Mirror
Miley Cyrus rose to global fame as a teenager with her role in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana as Miley Ray Stewart, which aired from 2006 to 2011. The show followed her character’s double life as a normal student and a famous pop star, and later led to the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie.
She went on to appear in films such as The Last Song (2010), LOL (2012), and the animated hit Bolt(2008). Her last major acting role came in 2019, when she starred as pop singer Ashley O in Netflix’s Black Mirror.
Teasing A Possible Hannah Montana Return
While at the festival, Cyrus also hinted at something special connected to Hannah Montana. Asked about anniversary plans for the popular show, she confirmed that work is underway but kept details secret, as per variety. She jokingly pointed to her hairstyle, referencing the character’s famous bangs.
Although no new acting project has been announced yet, Cyrus’s comments have excited fans. For now, she continues to focus on music, but a return to acting may be closer than expected.
