If a report by NDTV is to be believed, Arijit Singh is considering launching a political party and is also considering contesting elections. A Bengali film industry insider told the news portal that Arijit might consider fighting elections at a grassroots level first. He will then launch his political party, but will not immediately be a part of the 2026 Bengal Assembly Elections.
For the unversed, Arijit Singh hails from Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal. The singer has not yet issued any official statement regarding his political career as of now.
Arijit Singh Announces Exit From Playback Singing
Arijit stunned fans on Tuesday evening when he announced that he would no longer take up new assignments as a playback vocalist, effectively drawing the curtain on a career that shaped modern Bollywood music.
In a message shared on Instagram, the singer expressed gratitude to listeners while confirming his decision to step away. “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he wrote.
Over the years, Arijit Singh has lent his voice to countless iconic songs including Tum Hi Ho, Channa Mereya, Agar Tum Saath Ho, Raabta, Kesariya, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Tera Yaar Hoon Main and Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage. He was also set to feature in Hum To Tere Hi Liye The from Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming O Romeo. His most recent release is Ghar Kab Aaoge from Border 2.
