Sharmila Tagore marked her 81st birthday on December 8 with a private celebration. Her daughter, Soha Ali Khan, gave followers a loving insight into the intimate celebration, which also included Saif Ali Khan and
Sara Ali Khan. Soha even displayed the adorable, homemade present her daughter Inaaya made.
Soha posted several photos from the birthday event on Instagram. One shot shows Sara and Soha smiling with the veteran actor at a restaurant, while another shows Saif, Sara and Sharmila posing like royalty against a Christmas backdrop. Some of Sharmila’s close friends also attended the party. Soha shared a video of everyone singing ‘Happy Birthday’ while the actor sliced both a chocolate and vanilla cake. Inaaya, Soha’s daughter, sent a handwritten birthday card to her grandmother. In the caption, she wrote, “My amma on her birthday- missed you Apa @sabapataudi!”

Earlier, Sara Ali Khan shared pictures with the veteran actress and penned a short birthday message on Instagram: “Happiest birthday to the Chanda and Suraj of our family… Love you beyond words Badi Amma.” Kareena Kapoor Khan paid a birthday tribute to her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore. The actress shared a series of family images with the veteran performer on Instagram, captioned “Happy birthday, dearest Mother in law.” In one of the photos, Saif Ali Khan smiled for the camera with Sharmila Tagore, who was holding Jeh in her arms. Another shot shows Kareena walking alongside Sharmila.

Sharmila Tagore’s Massive Comeback
On the work front, Sharmila Tagore returned to Bengali cinema after 14 years with the 2025 film Puratawn. The film, directed by Suman Ghosh and produced by Rituparna Sengupta under her brand Bhavna Aaj O Kal, stars Sharmila as a matriarch whose memory is deteriorating, and Rituparna as her daughter. Indraneil Sengupta and Brishti Ray also play prominent parts. The film earned great reviews and went on to become one of the most successful Bengali releases of 2025.
