It is not a secret that Ranveer Singh has backed out of Farhan Akhtar’s most-awaited project, Don 3. While previous reports claimed that the actor left the film due to creative differences, a new report has now
revealed what actually happened between Singh and Akhtar.
If a report by Free Press Journal is to be believed, Ranveer Singh, who is currently enjoying the success of his Dhurandhar franchise, wanted to use “strong language” in Don 3. Ranveer felt that Don should “change his DNA to match the current violent” standards since that is what is being loved by the audience these days.
However, Farhan Akhtar was against the use of “harsh language” in the film. He explained that even Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s versions of Don films never really relied upon abusive language. Reportedly, the filmmaker was not ready to succumb to any kind of pressure tactics. “Farhan very much wanted to make the film he originally set out to make,” a source told the publication.
Ultimately, Ranveer Singh decided to quit Don 3.
More About Don 3 Fallout
Ranveer Singh left Don 3 in 2025. The fallout became public amid reports of script disagreements and delays. It was previously reported that Excel was seeking Rs 40 crore in compensation, citing pre-production expenses, scheduling changes and related losses. The production house maintained that groundwork had been completed with Ranveer’s approval. Reportedly, Singh has also agreed to return a part of this amount.
Recently, Farhan Akhtar also opened up about the fallout and told Hollywood Reporter India, “What I have learnt is to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted till you actually have it on film.” He added that his journey in films has been an incredible ride so far, and he understands that challenging phases are inevitable, and it’s something he chooses to take in his stride.
