Spain defeated France 2-0 in the second semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Tuesday (July 14) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington to book their place in the final. Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from
the penalty spot in the 22nd minute before Pedro Porro doubled La Roja’s advantage in the 58th minute.
The victory over Les Bleus not only secured Spain a place in the final but also helped them create history. Spain became the first team in FIFA World Cup history to keep six clean sheets in a single edition of the tournament.
Spain have been remarkably solid defensively throughout the competition, conceding just one goal in seven matches. They began their campaign with a goalless draw against Cape Verde before registering a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia and a 1-0 win over Uruguay in the group stage.
