to replace Ranveer Singh in Don 3 after the latter signed on to the project. In a chat with HT City, the insider said, “It is not true, Hrithik was not approached to star in Don 3 after Ranveer came on board.” The clarification comes amid growing speculation around what went wrong between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. What Triggered The Fallout? Ranveer Singh exited Don 3 in December 2025. Since then, multiple reports have suggested that the actor and the production house have been at odds. One of the allegations reportedly made by Ranveer was that when his films were not performing, the shoot of Don 3 kept getting delayed. He is also said to have alleged that Excel explored the possibility of bringing Hrithik Roshan on board behind his back and only re-approached him after the success of Dhurandhar. What Reports Claim Happened Behind Closed Doors A report by Bollywood Hungama offered further details about discussions following Ranveer’s exit. According to the portal, “From the outset, it was made clear that the intent was not to single out or blame any individual. The discussion revolved around a larger industry issue: what options a filmmaker has after investing substantial money in a film’s pre-production when the principal actor exits the project. The stakeholders also examined the issue from the actor’s point of view and deliberated on safeguards producers can put in place to prevent such situations in the future.” The same report added, “Ranveer also pointed out that Farhan was never open to feedback on the script and had issues incorporating certain subplots. He further alleged that Excel was exploring the possibility of getting Hrithik Roshan on board and only re-approached him after the success of Dhurandhar, to capitalise on his momentum.” At this stage, there has been no official statement from Excel Entertainment or Farhan Akhtar addressing these specific claims.
