Delhiites woke up to light rain showers on Friday morning as the national capital continues to witness dense fog and cold wave conditions. The rain began in the early hours of Friday, with showers leading
to traffic slowdowns in many regions.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), although the widespread rain in Delhi-NCR remains unlikely for now, cold wave and dense fog conditions are expected to persist, keeping temperatures below the average.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, especially during morning hours, when reduced visibility could pose a challenge to commuters.
IMD weather forecast
According to the weather body, dense fog conditions are likely to persist during the morning hours over northwest, central, and northeast India for the next five to seven days.
Cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand during the next two days and over Rajasthan, Haryana, and Chandigarh, and Punjab during the next three to five days, the weatherman said.
