The Internet, as we have come to learn, can be extremely distressing at times, from non-stop misinformation and rage-bait content to cyberbullying, scams, the erosion of privacy, AI-generated slop, deepfakes
and fake videos, engagement farming, endless doomscrolling, smartphone addiction, and much more. Being constantly online and bombarded with information humans may perceive as useful can not only be harmful to one’s physical health but could also prove detrimental to mental well-being. There are countless studies that have closely monitored and analysed the short and long-term damages that the Internet can cause to an individual, but we are here to remind you that maybe, just maybe, not all is lost.
As it turns out, there is a tiny corner on the Internet that primarily focuses on the daily happenings of mortal human beings that leaves them with a smile. These life updates could range from landing a job all the way to finally giving up on an addiction and everything in between and beyond.
Perhaps one of the most popular Subreddits to exist on Reddit, r/MadeMeSmile is a place frequented by thousands of users daily and for a good reason.
MadeMeSmile

“Dad Returns From Deployment”
Shared by u/Vilen1919, the viral video shows a father returning from his half-year deployment to surprise his daughter at school.
“This world could use a couple centuries of peace (sic),” wrote one user in response to the wholesome video.
“I would trade every single one of these tear jerker videos for a reality where parents just come home for dinner every night. We really take boring days for granted:(,” wrote another.

“Neighbour Buys Treats”
A kind neighbour, with no pets of his own, buys treats only to feed his neighbour’s puppy.
“This guy, my neighbor, gives treats to my dog every time we pass his house if he’s outside. He doesn’t even own a dog. He bought that bag of treats for mine,” u/CatPooedInMyShoe wrote.

“So your neighbor is now essentially your dogs grandparent,” wrote one in response.
“That’s a good neighbor. Dogs form attachments to people like that, not because they get treats but because they get unconditional affection and the dog learns that’s their neighbor too. We had a neighbor two doors down pass away who gave our dog treats all the time and loved to say hi to her. When he passed away my dog was visbally destroyed when she figured out he was gone (sic),” shared another.
