Anticipating huge gatherings for Chhath Puja in the national capital over the next two days, the Delhi Traffic Police has announced restrictions and diversions across several parts of the city.
As per the
advisory, traffic movement is expected to be affected from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning on roads adjoining major ghats, with commuters advised to avoid these areas and use public transport.
In east and northeast Delhi, heavy footfall is expected at Gandhi Nagar Naav Ghat near the Old Iron Bridge, Purvanchal Nav Nirman Sangthan Ghat, and Satyamev Jayate Ghat near Geeta Colony — each likely to attract over 45,000 devotees. The DND Yamuna Khadar and Chhath Ghat near Shastri Park will also see major crowds. Traffic may remain slow near Geeta Colony, IP Extension, and Shastri Park.

Restrictions will be in place on GT Road from Shastri Park to Yudhishthir Setu, and on Shantivan Loop and Laxmi Nagar–Kailash Nagar Road during evening and early morning hours. Diversions will be implemented in Khajuri Khas, Gandhi Nagar, and Bhajanpura areas.
In central and north Delhi, over one lakh devotees are expected at Shyam Ghat in Jagatpur, with large gatherings also at Shani Mandir Ghat and Vaasudev Ghat near ISBT. Traffic along Majnu ka Tilla, Burari, and Wazirabad Road may remain heavy.
In south Delhi, Bhola Ghat at Kalindi Kunj is expected to draw 2.5–3 lakh people, while gatherings are also likely at Aya Nagar, Sangam Vihar, and Asthal Mandir. Slow movement is anticipated along MB Road, Agar Canal Road, and Road No. 13.
Crowds are also expected at Bhalswa Lake, Majlis Park, and in west Delhi at Surya Upasana Park (Dabri) and Mangolpuri.
Roadside parking will not be permitted near ghats, and vehicles must be parked only in designated lots, the advisory said.
No restrictions apply to routes leading to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station and ISBT, though delays are possible.
