Gujarat Titans were involved in yet another last-over thriller in IPL 2026. In their previous outing, their clash against Rajasthan Royals had also gone down to the final over, but the 2022 champions ended
up on the losing side. On Wednesday night, however, the tide turned as GT secured a thrilling one-run victory over Delhi Capitals in a high-scoring encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
During the match, GT head coach Ashish Nehra lost his cool after his team conceded four overthrows at a crucial stage. While the extra runs weren’t due to any individual error, the tense situation made his reaction understandable.
With DC needing 63 off 28 balls, GT pacer Ashok Sharma delivered a pinpoint yorker to Tristan Stubbs after starting the 16th over with a boundary and a wide. Stubbs managed to dig the ball out, and a slight deflection off the bowler allowed him and KL Rahul to sneak a quick single.
Meanwhile, GT captain Shubman Gill gathered the ball and fired a direct hit at the striker’s end. Although he hit the stumps, the ball ricocheted away for four overthrows, leaving the GT camp visibly frustrated.

However, that frustration soon turned into relief. GT held their nerve at the death, successfully defending two runs off the final two deliveries. DC batter David Miller declined a single off the penultimate ball, and Kuldeep Yadav was run out on the final delivery, sealing a dramatic win and two crucial points for the visitors.
GT thus ended their winless run while breaking DC’s unbeaten start to the season.

DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first. After opener Sai Sudharsan was out cheaply, GT captain Gill and Jos Buttler roared back into form with blistering half-centuries to set base for a big total. Gill top scored with 70 off 45 while Buttler made 27-ball 55.
Allrounder Washington Sundar also struck a fifty with GT finishing at 210/4 in 20 overs.
DC then began their chase with a strong opening stand between KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka with the pair adding 76 runs. However, the hosts fell short by the barest of margin despite Rahul’s 92.
