Fresh from the global success of her Netflix K-drama Boyfriend On Demand, Jisoo is set to receive the prestigious Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at the upcoming Canneseries. The award, which celebrates
emerging talent in the international entertainment industry, will place her among past recipients like Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sydney Sweeney, and Phoebe Dynevor. Canneseries will take place from April 23-28, 2026, in the French city of Cannes at Canneseries
According to a report by Variety on March 10, Jisoo will be presented the award at the festival’s opening ceremony on April 23. Canneseries praised the 31-year-old artist for “crossing borders” between music and acting, highlighting her rapid ascent from K-pop sensation to accomplished television actress.
Albin Lewi, Canneseries’ artistic director, remarked that Jisoo’s “artistic journey, her ability to conquer new creative territories, and her global aura” made her a standout choice for the award. Canneseries’ TikTok account also shared a video of Jisoo expressing her gratitude for the recognition, marking another milestone in her growing international acting career.
From K-Pop to Acting
Jisoo first gained worldwide recognition as a member of Blackpink, debuting in 2016. Her solo music career has been equally successful, with hits like Flower (2023) from her single album Me selling over a million copies. Her 2025 EP Amortage and the single Earthquake further solidified her solo credentials, and her duet Eyes Closed with Zayn Malik even entered the Billboard Hot 100.
In acting, Jisoo has steadily built a strong resume with shows like Snowdrop (2021), Newtopia (2025), and the movie Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. Her latest series, Boyfriend On Demand, co-starring Seo In-Guk, premiered on Netflix on March 6 and quickly entered the top 10 rankings in multiple countries. The rom-com, praised for its quirky plot and insightful look at love in the digital age, has cemented Jisoo’s status as a rising global talent in acting.
