Kriti Sanon has found herself at the centre of an online debate after her appearance in a Raksha Bandhan advertisement drew criticism from a section of social media users. While some objected to the actress’
outfit for the festive campaign, others questioned a scene showing her tying a rakhi to a dog.
Kriti has not directly responded to the criticism. Instead, the actress returned to Instagram with a collection of personal photographs, sharing moments from her travels and time spent with people close to her.
Kriti Sanon Shares Personal Photo Dump
Amid the discussion surrounding the advertisement, Kriti posted several photographs offering a peek into her life away from work.
The photo dump included vacation pictures as well as glimpses featuring her sister Nupur Sanon. Kabir Bahia, who has been romantically linked to Kriti for some time, also featured among the memories shared by the actress.
Kriti kept her caption simple, writing, “Some memories captured.. Mannnnyyyyy more Lived!”
The post did not contain any reference to the controversy surrounding her recent advertisement. Kriti has also not issued a statement addressing the reactions to the campaign so far.
Her social media update, however, arrived while the advertisement continued to generate discussion online, particularly over how the festival was represented.
Kriti’s Raksha Bandhan Outfit Draws Criticism
For the Raksha Bandhan campaign, Kriti was dressed in an off-white ensemble featuring a bralette-style blouse, a cape and a draped skirt.
The contemporary styling became one of the biggest talking points after the advertisement surfaced online. A section of users felt the outfit was inappropriate for a campaign centred around a traditional Indian festival.
Several comments questioned why the actress had been styled in the particular ensemble for a Raksha Bandhan advertisement. One social media user went as far as describing the choice as “extremely shameful.”
The criticism, however, wasn’t restricted to Kriti’s clothes.
Dog Rakhi Scene Divides Social Media
Another moment from the campaign showed Kriti interacting with a dog who barks at her. She then ties a rakhi around the dog’s neck, bringing the pet into the Raksha Bandhan celebration.
The sequence was seemingly intended to portray the dog as part of the family, extending the festive sentiment beyond the conventional brother-sister relationship.
That interpretation didn’t work for everyone.
Some social media users objected to the idea of tying a rakhi to a dog and accused the campaign of trivialising an Indian festival. Others questioned the creative decision behind the scene and argued that the traditional meaning of Raksha Bandhan should not have been altered for an advertisement.
The campaign consequently triggered two separate conversations, one surrounding Kriti’s styling and another about the depiction of the festival itself.
Kriti Sanon Remains Silent On Backlash
Despite the criticism circulating online, Kriti has chosen not to engage publicly with the comments.
Her latest Instagram post instead focuses entirely on personal memories, including holidays and candid moments with Nupur and Kabir.
Kriti and Kabir have repeatedly fuelled dating speculation through their appearances together, though the two have not publicly confirmed their relationship.
