Did you know that Alia Bhatt didn’t invite her uncle to her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor? Once among Bollywood’s most successful filmmaking duos, brothers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt now stand on opposite
sides of a divide. The co-founders of Vishesh Films, who together delivered blockbusters like Aashiqui, Raaz, and Murder, have been embroiled in a long-running feud that continues to draw attention in the industry.
Recently, Mukesh revealed that he wasn’t invited to Alia Bhatt’s wedding. He said that while he felt bad, he loves Mahesh Bhatt’s daughters a lot. Speaking to Lehren Retro, Mukesh said, “I will be a hypocrite if I say I didn’t feel bad. Of course, I felt bad. I love Alia a lot and not just her, even Shaheen. So when she got married, I thought meri bachi ki shadi hai (my daughter is getting married). I was very much wanting to be there.”
Mukesh also revealed that he hasn’t met Alia and Ranbir’s daughter, Raha, who turned three this year. He also expressed his desire to meet the baby girl. “When I got to know that Alia is pregnant and then she had a baby, meri aankhein taras gayi Raha ko dekhne ke liye (My eyes yearn to see Raha). I love kids a lot,” he said.
Mukesh said he didn’t try to reach out to Alia because he didn’t want to put her in an awkward position. “I didn’t even try because I didn’t want to put her in a position of discomfort. I didn’t want to put her in a position where she had to see how will her father feel if I come and meet her,” he said. He added that he did not even message his niece. However, he said, “Maine dil se dua de di (I blessed them from my heart).”
For the unversed, the feud started in 2021 when Mukesh Bhatt officially took over the reins of Vishesh Films, announcing that Mahesh would no longer be involved in the company’s future projects. At the time, Mukesh claimed there had been no fight, insisting that it was a peaceful separation. However, Mahesh’s later comments, especially about “morally bankrupt” Aashiqui 3, suggested otherwise. According to reports, creative and financial disagreements lie at the heart of the fallout.
