The box office race is showing no signs of slowing down, and one Malayalam film continues to dominate the conversation. Nearly two weeks after its release, audiences are still turning up in large numbers,
keeping the momentum firmly on its side.
Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 is enjoying a remarkable run in theatres and is now just a step away from a major milestone at the domestic box office. Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics upon release, the crime thriller has emerged as a crowd favourite and continues to post impressive numbers.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the much-awaited third chapter of the Drishyam franchise arrived in cinemas on May 21 and got off to a strong start with an opening-day collection of Rs 15.85 crore. Since then, the film has managed to hold steady, adding healthy numbers every day.
According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 collected Rs 5.35 crore from 2,454 shows across India on its 11th day. With that, the film’s total domestic collection has climbed to Rs 96.7 crore.
The latest figures mean that the Mohanlal-starrer is expected to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark in India on June 1, becoming yet another major success story for Malayalam cinema.
The film’s performance has been equally impressive overseas. While it inches closer to the century mark in India, Drishyam 3 has already crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide. After 11 days in theatres, its global box office collection stands at Rs 228.95 crore.
The day-wise collections have reflected the film’s consistency. After earning Rs 11.05 crore on day two, the movie collected Rs 13.7 crore on day three and Rs 13.85 crore on day four. It then added Rs 7.7 crore on day five, followed by Rs 6.5 crore on day six. The thriller earned Rs 6.65 crore each on days seven and eight, before collecting Rs 4.3 crore on day nine and Rs 5.1 crore on day ten.
Soon after the film hit theatres, Mohanlal took a moment to thank audiences for continuing to support Georgekutty and his family, characters who have remained at the heart of the franchise for years.
Sharing his gratitude on X, formerly Twitter, the actor wrote, “Drishyam 3 was made with immense love, passion, and gratitude, and seeing that love come back through your response has been deeply moving.”
He further noted that the audience’s reactions meant more than just box-office figures, thanking viewers for embracing the film and connecting with its story.
Backed by Aashirvad Cinemas, Drishyam 3 sees Mohanlal reprise his iconic role as Georgekutty. Meena returns as Rani George, while Ansiba Hasan and Esther Anil once again play Anju George and Anu George, respectively.
