A tense argument between a Mumbai resident and a police officer has caught widespread attention after the man accused the cop of unfairly issuing him a fine outside a roadside shop. The man claimed he was
targeted after a shop owner, whose outlet is allegedly set up illegally on the road, called the police on him.
The incident was recorded on the man’s phone outside Jewel Empire and has since been widely shared across social media platforms where it triggered a debate over police conduct and misuse of authority.
Mumbai Man Alleges Wrong Fine By Police Officer
In the video, the officer is seen issuing an e-challan while the man repeatedly questions why he is being fined. He can be heard saying, “Do fine maroge? Kis baat ka do fine maroge (Are you giving me two fines? For what reason)?”
The officer replies by accusing him of misbehaving and says, “Mere sath badtameezi ki (You misbehaved with me).”
The man pushes back, asking, “Kya badtameezi ki? Mai record kar raha hu (What misbehaviour? I am recording this).” Despite this, the officer continues to issue the challan.
At one point, the man says, “Dikhao aap kya fine maar rahe ho? Dadagiri kar rahi hai police. Gaadi ke andar baitha hua tha mai toh bhi aa kar fine maar rahe hai (Show me what fine you are issuing. The police are showing bullying. I was sitting inside my vehicle and still they came and fined me).”
The officer then tells him, “Court mein jane ka. Court mein jao aur bolo judge ko (Go to court and tell the judge).” After that, he gets on his bike.
Shopkeeper Bribe Angle Emerges
In another clip, the man claims that the shopkeeper told him, “Ye road maine kharidi hui hai (I have bought this road).”
When the man tells this to the officer, he is told, “Toh aap complaint karo unka (Then you file a complaint against them).”
The man asks him where to file complaint to which the officer replies, “Police station mein kro (Do it at the police station).”
But the man does not let it go. He is heard saying, “Aap karo. Aap kya kar rahe ho action? Aap police wale hi ho, aap duty par ho. Aap police station se hi aaye ho na. Aaye eske liye hi ho. Aapne konse CCTV ko dekha (You should take action. You are the police and you are on duty. You came from the police station for this only, right? Which CCTV did you check?)”
He further questions the officer’s authority by saying, “Aapko kisne bulaya? Aap traffic division se toh ho nahi toh aap traffic ka fine kaise maar rahe ho (Who called you? You are not from the traffic department so how are you issuing traffic fines?).”
The man also reportedly alleged that the officer took money from the shop owner before fining him, though this claim has not been verified.

What Are People Saying Online
As the clip spread across social media, it sparked a heated debate with people taking strong positions on both sides of the incident.
One user commented, “Power ka galat istemal krna koi inse sikhe (They should be taught how not to misuse power).”
Another said “Bro said police ko complaint karo as if he isn’t one,” while someone else demanded, “Strict action required ASAP.”
A person added, “Dadagiri is new normal in this country.”
But not everyone agreed with the man as one viewer defended the officer, saying, “The fine was taken because the person parked in no parking, nothing was wrong in that. They are putting fake allegations on the police officer.”
“Always negligence!! People of our society always target the police officers and then blame them only for their own inconvenience,” read another comment.
As of now, there has been no further update from the police regarding the incident.
