While Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash dominate the first trailer of Ramayana, another actor has become a talking point online. Fans have spotted Vivek Oberoi in a brief scene from the four-minute trailer,
and his appearance has sparked interest in one of the epic’s lesser-known characters, Vidyutjihva.
Who Does Vivek Oberoi Play In Ramayana?
The actor is almost unrecognisable beneath a thick beard, armour and elaborate headgear in the Ramayana trailer. He plays Vidyutjihva, Shurpanakha’s husband, whose fate becomes a turning point in Ravana’s journey. Though the trailer offers only a fleeting glimpse, many viewers believe the sequence hints that Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation will spend time exploring Ravana’s personal story instead of focusing only on the familiar events of the epic.
Fans pointed out Vivek’s appearance on social media. One user wrote, “I completely missed that Vivek Oberoi is also in the movie. He’s playing Vidyutjivha.”

Vivek Oberoi’s Vidyutjihva To Fight Yash’s Ravana?
Many also seem excited about what seems to be a face-off between Yash’s Ravana and Vivek Oberoi’s Vidyutjihva. The brief sequence has led to speculation that Ramayana could give more screen time to characters who have often received limited attention in previous adaptations.
Vivek Oberoi’s Salary For Ramayana
Away from the trailer, Vivek has also made headlines for revealing that he chose not to take a fee for the film. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said he instead requested producer Namit Malhotra to donate his remuneration. “I told Namit that I don’t want a penny for this. I want to donate it to any sort of cause that I believe in, which is kids with cancer. I told him I want to support you because I just love what you’re doing and I think that this will take Indian cinema on the global stage with a bang,” Vivek said.
The actor also shared how the team approached the film while working on it. “There is always the battle between whether Ramayana is mythological or historical. We believe it is historical, and it was great working on it. I was so happy and it was a lot of fun working with the whole crew, Namit, Nitesh, Yash and Rakul. I still have a couple of days of shoot left,” he added.
