Amid spine-chilling weather, a 70-year-old man showcased a next level of dedication and love towards his wife. After failing to secure enough money to arrange an ambulance, an Odisha man took his wife to hospital
in a rickshaw van. He pedalled 600 km to hospital and return.
As per a report by Times Of India, the man, identified as Babu Lohar, took his wife for treatment from Sambalpur to Cuttack. He pedalled across the highway and refused help from locals or police.
While his act highlights his unwavering devotion, it also underscores the inaccessible healthcare and facilities. TOI reported that no government authorities have commented on the issue as of now.
In November 2025, Lohar’s wife suffered a paralytic stroke and was taken to a local health centre in Sabalpur’s Modipada. However, doctors referred her to the state-run SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
