Actor Rana Daggubati used his latest public appearance to calmly address the legal chatter surrounding him. While unveiling his new brand in Mumbai, the actor took a moment to speak about the ongoing betting
app investigation — stressing that he has nothing to hide.
Rana Daggubati broke his silence again on the betting app case, weeks after being questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The actor attended the launch of his liquor brand Loca Loca in Mumbai, where he briefly spoke about the matter and reiterated that he has always followed proper legal procedures.
Commenting on the investigation, Rana told Bombay Times, “Those are legalities that keep changing. They’ll take their due course. There’s a law of the land, and we’ll always abide by it.” He also explained what guides his decisions when lending his name to any brand or project, adding, “The first thing is getting the product right—if the quality is fine and what you’re putting out there is fair, that’s as mindful as I would be while attaching my name to anything.”
Rana was questioned last month by the SIT in connection with the investigation into illegal betting platforms and their alleged promotional links with celebrities. The case has drawn major attention over the past year as the Telangana police continue cracking down on the growing betting ecosystem.
Back in November, Rana had briefly commented on the issue after his interrogation. ANI quoted him as saying, “We are going to use the right ways to communicate the right message about gaming and gaming apps. The legalities will be completed later. But I am here to do whatever is needed to help spread the message.”
The Telangana government set up the SIT, led by senior police officials and the CID, to crack down on illegal betting. Earlier this year, FIRs were filed against 25 celebrities and influencers — including Rana, Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda and Manchu Lakshmi — for allegedly promoting betting and gambling apps on social media.
With the case still underway, Rana’s latest comments show that he is staying calm and cooperative. He seems focused on his work while allowing the legal process to continue without adding to the speculation.
