In a city that never stops moving, time has always had a quiet anchor—and for Mumbai, that anchor has been the iconic clock at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
Installed in 1888, the towering
timepiece has done more than just tick; it has dictated the rhythm of the city for over a century. Long before smartphones and digital displays took over, Mumbaikars would glance up at this clock to set their watches, trusting its precision without question.
Even today, the legacy holds strong. The heritage clock continues to guide nearly four million commuters daily, its massive mechanism still wound by hand every week. Maintained by dedicated technicians and monitored closely through regular upkeep, the 150-year-old timekeeper remains remarkably accurate, an enduring symbol of reliability in a fast-changing city.
And that legacy also found a new form, on the wrist.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), a user by the name Siddharth’s Echelon shared how, in a tribute to Mumbai’s timeless icon, Titan translated the design of the CST clock tower into a wristwatch, capturing its distinctive dial and old-world charm.
“Mumbai has this iconic clock at the CSMT (earlier Victoria Terminus). This clock is ticking since 1888. Until very recently, commuters used to set their watches by this historic timekeeper of Mumbai.
Titan gave a tribute to this clock by making a wrist watch with that same dial.”
As per reports, the watch was originally launched as part of a special metropolitan cities edition, and the Mumbai-inspired timepiece quickly became a collector’s favourite. The limited-edition versions sold out almost instantly, prompting Titan to introduce non-limited variants that retained the same iconic design. With an ultra-slim 5.5mm case and a clean quartz build, the watch didn’t just replicate history—it made it wearable.

In 2018, Titan reintroduced the Eternal Mumbai timepieces “saluting the strength and resilience shown by Mumbaikars on 26/11. These timepieces are inspired by the dial of the timeless CST clock.” Proceeds from the sale went to Taj Public Service Welfare Trust, to aid the affected families.
