Actor Akshay Oberoi is gearing up for his next big outing in Dharma Productions’ upcoming entertainer, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film boasts an impressive cast,
including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Maniesh Paul, and Rohit Saraf, and marks a milestone moment for Akshay — a collaboration that has been nearly ten years in the making.
Looking back on the journey, Akshay Oberoi recalled a special memory. “In 2014, during the promotions of my film Pizza, I saw the trailer of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania for the first time. I was amazed by its scale, freshness, and the visual flair Shashank Khaitan brought to the screen. That day, I silently wished that one day I’d get the chance to work with him. It felt like a distant dream, but I held on to it,” he said.
And continued, “A decade later, that dream is finally coming true with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. To work under Shashank’s direction and be part of a Dharma Productions film with such a talented cast feels surreal and deeply rewarding. It’s a reminder that sometimes the universe listens to even our quietest dreams and fulfills them when the time is right.”
All you need to know about Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari teaser
The teaser of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari opens with Varun Dhawan channeling his inner Amarendra Baahubali, the iconic character made famous by Prabhas. However, the moment quickly turns comical when his friend quips, “Ranveer Singh ki dhoti mein Prabhas ka paudha lag raha hai.” The teaser goes on to introduce the film’s leading characters — Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf — while offering glimpses of the vibrant mix of drama, dance, colour, and romance that awaits audiences.
The rom-com, headlined by Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, is slated for release on October 2, setting the stage for a major box office clash. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the project marks Varun’s third collaboration with the filmmaker after the hits Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Alongside Varun and Janhvi, the ensemble cast also includes Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul.
However, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari won’t have an open field at the box office. It is set to compete directly with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 and Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, both arriving on the same date.
