In an interaction with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Sonakshi Sinha was asked about the public’s reaction to her interfaith marriage. She said, “I don’t know why everyone was so hot and bothered. It’s all just noise, honestly. I am not the first person who did it, and I am not going to be the last. It’s a grown-a** woman making a life choice, which people who I don’t even know tried to have a say in.” She further said that the conversations about her marriage felt stupid at the time, but they chose to simply block out all the negativity.
“It all felt very stupid at that time, but we had been waiting for this for a long time, and finally it was happening. We were ecstatic to be able to spend our lives with each other, and we just blocked all the noise,” she said. However, she added that it was quite difficult to do that, and she had to turn off her social media comments as she didn’t want to read a single negative thing about their relationship on their special day. In the same conversation, Sonakshi also revealed that she chose to hide their relationship initially as she wanted people to talk about her work, not her personal life. She also revealed that she hid her relationship with Zaheer from her parents for almost 3 years.
