The National Testing Agency has announced the official syllabus for NEET UG 2026, with approval from the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) and the National Medical Commission. Students anticipating
major changes to the NEET UG syllabus will be relieved to know that the exam structure remains largely unchanged from last year.
Candidates preparing for the exam should note that the new syllabus is entirely based on the NCERT’s rationalised Class 11 and 12 syllabus. Topics removed last year are excluded from this year’s syllabus as well. NTA advises students to commence their studies strictly according to the official syllabus. This update includes detailed information on crucial chapters and exam patterns in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The NTA NEET UG syllabus is available on the official website, nta.ac.in. As per the NTA notification, the NEET UG 2026 syllabus has been fully developed in line with NMC guidelines. No new chapters have been added, nor have any existing chapters been removed. Students can continue their preparation with their current books and notes.
Physics: The NEET UG Physics syllabus comprises 19 chapters for classes 11 and 12. High-weighted topics such as ‘Kinematics’, ‘Laws of Motion’, ‘Electrostatics’, and ‘Optics’ remain. Candidates are also advised to concentrate on ‘Experimental Skills’, as the number of experimental-based questions has increased over recent years.
Chemistry: Chemistry is divided into physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry, following NCERT guidelines and covering 30 chapters in total. Topics like ‘Biomolecules’ and ‘Practical Chemistry’ are given special emphasis. In Inorganic Chemistry, questions based directly on NCERT are expected from the P-block, D-block, and F-block elements.
Biology: Biology is the highest scoring subject for medical students, encompassing 38 chapters across grades 11 and 12. Sections such as ‘Genetics and Evolution’, ‘Human Physiology’, and ‘Ecology’ are prioritised. The NEET UG syllabus aims to assess students’ understanding and reasoning abilities.
