As the countdown to one of cinema’s most prestigious global events begins, several Indian names are preparing to make their presence felt on the international stage. Among them is actor Tara Sutaria, who
is gearing up for a significant career moment this year.
The actor is set to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, which will take place from May 12 to May 23. While Indian celebrities have been regulars at the festival over the years, this will mark Tara’s first appearance at the global event.
According to a source who spoke to Hindustan Times, “Ahead of Toxic, Tara Sutaria is set to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, representing India on a global stage.” The visit is not tied to a film premiere but is expected to coincide with the growing attention around her upcoming project.

The film in question is Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which features Yash in the lead. The project, written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, includes a large ensemble cast with names such as Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth.
Another source added, “With Toxic generating buzz, the Cannes debut is expected to spark the beginning of a global phase for Tara’s career.” This appearance is seen as a strategic move as the film builds anticipation ahead of its release.
Tara’s first look from the film, where she plays a character named Rebecca, was unveiled earlier this year. Speaking about the actor, director Geetu Mohandas shared a detailed note on social media, expressing her experience working with Tara. She wrote, “I’ve always felt a natural affection to safeguard Tara. Maybe it’s because she has a reserved spirit or perhaps it’s the protective shell she finds comfort in. And maybe it doesn’t need to be labelled.”
She further added, “She absorbed more than she articulated. She listened more than she disclosed. I often pondered if I should guide her more closely. Yet in her quietness, something profound was developing. When she finally embraced her role, what unfolded was nothing less than stunning, stemming from an inner awareness she had all along. She completely astonished me, in the most wonderful way. I am certain she will amaze everyone else as well. @tarasutaria I cherish you.”
The film’s release timeline, however, has seen changes. Initially planned for a worldwide release on March 19, it was later pushed to June 4. Recent updates confirm another delay, with the team now focusing on securing global distribution and partnerships. Yash indicated that the move is intended to help the film reach its “fullest potential worldwide”.
Meanwhile, other Indian names expected at Cannes this year include Aishwarya Rai, Alia Bhatt, and filmmaker Payal Kapadia, who will serve as the jury president for the Cannes Critics’ Week (May 13–21).
Away from films, Tara has also been in the news for her personal life. Reports suggest that she and Veer Pahariya have parted ways, though neither has confirmed this publicly. More recently, there have been claims linking her to Aditya Roy Kapur, with a report by Filmfare stating that the two are dating. The development has drawn strong reactions online, with fans sharing messages like, “Oh my? Best news! I love both of them 😍😍”, “Wooww both super good looking, cute, amazing 🤍♥️,” and “They will be great together 😍”.
The personal buzz follows earlier speculation around Tara’s equation with singer AP Dhillon during a Mumbai concert appearance. Addressing the controversy at the time, Tara had criticised “false narratives” and “paid PR.” Veer Pahariya had also dismissed the claims, while influencer Orhan Awatramani shared an unedited video from the event. Veer reposted it, writing, “The truth always wins (What the media will never show you).”
Despite the chatter, there has been no official confirmation regarding Tara’s reported breakup.
