A new show is set to premiere on Zee TV soon, titled Pavitra Rishta, a name that evokes memories of Manav and Archana, played by Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput. It appears that the producer of the original
show, Ektaa Kapoor, is not pleased with the reuse of the title of one of India’s most popular television shows.
Taking to her Instagram, Ektaa Kapoor slammed the reuse of the name, which is associated with one of her most popular shows, and wrote, “When u can’t create an IP u feed on an established one of another creator!” She further slammed the makers, saying, “Terrible ethics or intellectual bankruptcy!!! Or both!!! Nothing Pavitra about it!!! (sic)”
Siddharttha Vankara’s upcoming show on Zee TV will feature Abrar Qazi and Priyanshi Yadav in the lead. The love story, backed by Aman Sachdeva, will also feature Pallav Pradhan and Roopa Divetia in key roles.
About the New Pavitra Rishta
As per a report in TOI, Pavitra Rishta will go on floors in January 2026. The show is expected to premiere on television sometime in February. Abrar Qazi, who received a big break in 2018 with Laila Majnu, continued to appear on TV shows after the film. After the film, he was seen in Gathbandhan, Yeh Hai Chahtein, Ravivaar With Star Parivaar, Kumkum Bhagya, and Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad.
During the re-release of Laila Majnu, Abrar shared, “Laila Majnu did not help my career at the time, but after it was re-released last year, people appreciated my work.”
Upcoming Projects
Even as she looks back on three decades of content creation, Kapoor shows no signs of slowing down. On the work front, she has lined up a string of ambitious projects:
VVAN, a collaboration with TVF starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, is billed as a mythological spectacle.
Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan and headlined by Akshay Kumar, is expected to deliver a mix of laughs and scares.
She recently gave fans a nostalgic revival of her iconic television drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, bringing back one of the most defining shows in Indian pop culture to a new generation of audiences.
