US President Donald Trump announced the creation of a new fraud enforcement division at the Department of Justice and nominated Colin McDonald to lead it as the first-ever Assistant Attorney General for National
Fraud Enforcement. Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “I am pleased to nominate Colin McDonald to serve as the first ever Assistant Attorney General for National FRAUD Enforcement, a new Division at the Department of Justice, which I created to catch and stop FRAUDSTERS that have been STEALING from the American People.”
“My Administration has uncovered Fraud schemes in States like Minnesota and California, where these thieves have stolen Hundreds of Billions of Taxpayer Dollars,” Trump continued in the post, which featured his characteristic use of capital letters for emphasis.
The US President praised McDonald as “a very Smart, Tough, and Highly Respected AMERICA FIRST Federal Prosecutor who has successfully delivered Justice in some of the most difficult and high stakes cases our Country has ever seen.”
“Together, we will END THE FRAUD, and RESTORE INTEGRITY to our Federal Programs. Congratulations Colin- STOP THE SCAMS!” Trump concluded.
Who Is Colin McDonald?
Colin McDonald is a federal prosecutor who has handled high-profile cases during his career in the Justice Department. Trump described him as having experience with “some of the most difficult and high stakes cases” in the country. The new division is expected to focus on investigating and prosecuting fraud schemes targeting federal programs and taxpayer funds. Trump specifically cited alleged fraud in Minnesota and California, claiming losses in the “hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars.” The nomination will require Senate confirmation before McDonald can assume the role.
