Several schools in Ahmedabad, along with the Shiv Nadar School in Noida, received bomb threat emails just three days before Republic Day, triggering heightened security measures and the evacuation of students
on Friday.
In Ahmedabad, multiple private schools were targeted, prompting school authorities to immediately alert the police. Teams from the city police, bomb disposal unit, forensic department and fire brigade were deployed to the campuses to conduct thorough inspections.
Confirming the development, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch said its bomb squad and forensic experts were investigating the threats received by schools in western parts of the city.
A similar alert was reported in Noida, where security personnel were rushed to the Shiv Nadar School after a threatening email was received. The bomb squad and dog squad carried out inspections of the premises as a precautionary step.
As part of safety protocols, the school arranged for buses to drop students back at their designated locations and advised parents to stay in contact with bus staff for updates while picking up their children. School authorities urged parents to remain calm and cooperate with the arrangements.
School principal Anju Soni said the decision to close the school for the day was taken purely as a preventive measure to allow security agencies to complete their checks.
“We have received an email with a Bomb threat this morning and as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026. School buses are being sent back and parents are requested to receive their child at the designated drop-off spot. Parents may connect with the respective bus staff for real-time updates on arrival at the designated location. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” Principal Anju Soni said in a statement.
