MS Dhoni might be in the twilight of his legendary playing career, but his fans aren’t ready to say goodbye just yet. Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan, in particular, wants the Chennai Super Kings legend to continue
playing until he turns 60.
Ever since Dhoni famously replied, “definitely not!” when asked about retirement during IPL 2020, each season has sparked speculation about whether it will be his last as a player.
During a pre-season event at Chepauk, where past and present CSK players gathered in front of a packed arena, the inevitable retirement question came up – but with a twist.
Instead of asking whether Dhoni would retire after IPL 2026, Sivakarthikeyan urged him to keep playing for another decade.
The crowd erupted in approval.
Dhoni responded with characteristic honesty.
“That is very difficult,” he said.
But Sivakarthikeyan was undeterred.
“With your fitness, it’s easy, I think,” he replied.
A humble Dhoni admitted, “It’s (fitness) on the way down, not the way up,” before quickly adding, “I can try.”
The crowd went wild.
“We got the answer, sir!” Sivakarthikeyan exclaimed.

Raina, Hayden In CSK Hall of Fame
CSK inducted Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden into their first-ever Hall of Fame on Sunday. The announcement was made during their fan event “Roar’26”.
Raina was signed by CSK during the inaugural season and was a part of their four IPL winning squads — 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.
Hayden was a part of the 2010 IPL winning CSK squad and the first from the franchise to win the Orange Cap award — winning it in the 2009 edition for amassing 572 runs. Hayden scored 1117 runs for the Super Kings, including eight half centuries.
Several former CSK players, including Muttiah Muralitharan, Ambati Rayudu, Lakshmipathy Balaji, S Badrinath and Michael Hussey, were also present at the event.
