Taupo in New Zealand is home to a unique gem, providing McDonald’s food services to its wide and loyal customer base in an aeroplane setting. Yes, you read that right. This McDonald’s outlet in New Zealand has
a retired DC-3 aeroplane, in which customers enter and enjoy the delicious burger range and other fast-food offerings of the company.
Hailed as the “coolest McDonald’s” ever, the setting blends an air travel and high-tech marvel with the culinary delights. The stunning aeroplane sits in the centre of this McDonald’s restaurant. A video shared on Instagram offered viewers the astonishing glimpses of the aeroplane’s outer design and shades, as well as the neat food sitting area and a cockpit in such good condition that it made you think it would be used by an air pilot any moment.
McDonald’s In DC-3 Aeroplane
“This coolest McDonald’s has a real retired DC-3 aeroplane built right into the restaurant, where you can eat inside the plane and peek into the original cockpit,” wrote an account sharing the video of the McDonald’s aeroplane eatery online. The clip led to playful references of “McDonald’s in a McDonnell Douglas” in the comments as people recognised the plane to be the original McDonnell Douglas DC-3 manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company.
With a length of 64 ft 8 in and a wingspan of around 95 ft 2 in, the McDonnell Douglas DC-3 can carry 21-32 passengers at a time. As the plane seats were removed for a refurbished and expanded McDonald’s food setting, the retired aeroplane in the video can obviously carry more people at a time. Advertised by the Taupo outlet as the “world’s coolest McDonald’s”, one could see that this plane had a spacious and welcoming area for the services.
‘Have A McDonald’s Amusement Park’
The introduction of the McDonnell Douglas DC-3 aeroplane for McDonald’s services raised excitement among the McD’s widespread fan base across the globe. A section of online users wondered what the company’s next unique offering could be and guessed it might be a McDonald ‘s-themed amusement park.
“They should have a McDonald’s amusement park now,” quipped an excited person.
Someone amusingly called it, “The rare McDonald Douglas DC-3.”
“I absolutely loved the legendary and iconic DC3, and if I ever go to New Zealand sometime, I’m going to this McDonald’s!” mentioned a user.
The mix of a stunning DC-3 aeroplane and McDonald’s burgers and other fast-food delights indeed made this the most extraordinary setting. This McDonald’s outlet could soon be a tourist attraction of its own in the region.
