Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also shared warm wishes, reminding everyone of the vision and spirit of those who shaped the state, and encouraged people to work together for peace and progress. Tripura and Manipur are also celebrating their statehood day today.
In separate posts, PM Modi congratulated the people of Manipur and Tripura, praising Manipur’s love for sports, culture, and nature, and Tripura’s mix of tradition and modernity. He wished for their continued growth and prosperity. Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura became states in 1972 after the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, which reorganized the northeastern region of India.
Manipur and Tripura were granted statehood on January 21, 1972, while Meghalaya was carved out from Assam because of its unique landscape.
