Coolie, the superstar Rajnikanth-starrer action thriller film, has finally hit the theatres today, August 14, 2025, and has been getting positive reviews from fans and critics alike. For every Thalaiva’s
fan, his film releases are no less than a festival and the event became more memorable after the ‘OG Rajinikanth Fan’ Dhanush arrived at the First Day First Show premiere of Coolie along with his elder son, Yatra.
On Thursday, the actor and his son, Yatra, joined an excited crowd at Chennai’s Rohini Theatre for an early morning screening of the film.
Dhanush Watches Coolie First Day First Show
A Video shared on X depicts Dhanush arriving at the theatre in the morning, accompanied by his son, to watch his former Father-in-law’s action thriller film.
Beaming with joy, the Raanjhanaa actor, dressed in an all-black outfit, immediately ran towards the theatre after stepping out of his car. He also briefly waved at the paps stationed outside the cinema hall.

Dhanush’s Relation With Rajinikanth
Dhanush, who was previously married to Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya, continues to share a close relationship with her and the superstar’s family. The former couple has two sons: Linga and Yatra. His presence at the theatre enhanced the already frantic mood as fans celebrated the release in true Thalaiva style.
Coolie’s Response
Looking at the massive fan following of Thalaiva, several theatres have opened special shows for Coolie. The excitement was electrifying, with theatres packed with screams, whistles, and cheers for the superstar’s maiden collaboration with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Coolie Star Cast and Storyline
Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Pooja Hegde, Soubin Shahir, Upendra Rao and Satyadev in significant roles. The film also stars Aamir Khan in a cameo role.
Coolie follows the story of Deva, a former gold smuggler who uses stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches to revive his old gang. The plot revolves around his attempt to reclaim his past glory and take over a powerful gold smuggling empire.
