The text exchange between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively was revealed in an unsealed court document on January 19, and they have set social media on fire. This document comes as a fresh update on the legal
war between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. Interestingly enough, the new court documents paint a different picture from what was initially conveyed at the beginning of this courtroom saga.
Portions of alleged text messages between Swift and Lively are quoted in the filing, showing how the friends discussed Justin Baldoni. The text messages have brought Taylor into the centre of the ongoing legal dispute between Blake and Justin. According to a report cited by People, the texts not only see Swift allegedly calling Baldoni a ‘bi**h, but also giving Blake her support and even discussing strategy.
In early December 2024, Swift allegedly referred to Baldoni while referencing a forthcoming New York Times article. Swift allegedly wrote, “I think this b***h knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin.”
In another exchange, Swift allegedly discussed film strategy with Lively, writing, “If Justin was strategic, he would be like no Taylor Swift in the trailer because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally not his.”
Lively’s legal team does not dispute that the quoted language appears in the cited sources but strongly contests the interpretation of the texts. Her lawyers state that the messages do not prove that Swift and Lively privately discussed the forthcoming New York Times article or coordinated strategy as alleged.
Taylor Swift And The Script Controversy
The court document also claims that Blake Lively and Taylor Swift met Justin Baldoni at Lively’s apartment to convince the filmmaker to direct a revised script of ‘It Ends With Us,’ allegedly endorsing the draft without reading it and encouraging Baldoni to move forward. One quoted message reportedly shows Swift saying, “I’ll do anything for you!!”
Lively’s lawyers deny these claims, stating that Swift neither met with Baldoni nor endorsed the revised script. They further dispute any suggestion that Swift acted on Lively’s behalf, urging the court to rely on the full context of the cited sources.
Additional messages quoted in the filing include Lively praising Swift for her support. “You were so epically heroic today,” Lively told Swift afterwards, adding, “I recapped every moment to husband Ryan Reynolds. I kept remembering stuff- You making s— up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown fell for all of it. But also resisting it. You are the world’s absolute greatest friend ever.”
When Blake Lively called Taylor Swift her ‘dragon’
In Baldoni’s January 2025 countersuit, additional alleged messages show Lively referring to Swift and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, as her “dragons,” a reference to Game of Thrones. The message suggests that the two would protect her in conflicts, describing them as “gorgeous monsters.”
“I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. [Smiley-face emoji] you will too, I can promise you,” the alleged message read.
Where The Feud Began?
The legal battle began when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York City, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, retaliation, and fostering a hostile work environment during the production of It Ends With Us. Baldoni has denied all allegations and responded with a countersuit accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and several friends, including Taylor Swift, of defamation and extortion.
