An animal rescue van from People for Animal Welfare reached the Delhi residence of the Luthra brothers, Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, owners of the Goa restaurant Birch by Romeo Lane, after reports surfaced
that a dog had been left unattended inside their upscale home. Images from the site show the rescue ambulance parked outside the house and a small black dog inside, wearing a checked jacket and collar, with no caretaker present.
The visit by animal welfare workers comes just hours after the brothers allegedly fled their Delhi residence and flew to Phuket on an IndiGo flight. Their departure took place soon after the devastating fire at their Goa establishment, which killed 25 people on Saturday and triggered widespread outrage.
The brothers, who have been missing since the tragedy, are now facing mounting legal and public scrutiny. Goa Police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt, coordinating with central agencies to track their movements abroad. Multiple teams have been formed to investigate alleged safety violations and possible negligence at the restaurant, where the blaze rapidly engulfed the property.
Authorities are also examining how the owners were able to leave the country shortly after the incident, even as families of the victims demand accountability.
Meanwhile, neighbours reported that the dog had been left alone on the property since the brothers’ sudden departure. With no one available to look after the animal, welfare officials stepped in to assess the situation.
